Description from Goodreads:
One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.
Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.
Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

"No, as in I didn't wake up screaming bloody murder. I just passed out when a bloody ghost showed up for a visit. After a visit from a shape-shifting kitten and a perverted toad.” Kylie
This book had me laughing out loud and eagerly turning the next page. It is filled with awesome characters that each have amazing personalities.. and .. erm... "quirks".
C.C. Hunter created a story that had me feeling a variety of emotions. Maybe she was trying to leave readers feeling like Kylie was? A bit lost and confused.. not really knowing where she stands in the world. With one foot in the human world, and one in a cabin with a Vampire and a Witch? It's bound to get a bit crazy.
It's also got just enough of the dark stuff. It's not all witty comebacks, spells gone awry and hot shapeshifters. Things get scary for Kylie. They get bloody and ghostly, and Kylie needs to figure out what's going on before something worse happens. I loved the mystery and excitement mixed in to this story! Thankfully, ALL of the books in this series are out now, so if you love it.. You won't have to wait to read #2 like I did!

The quirky characters in this book will keep you chuckling to yourself and craving more.
I will say this book is YA at it's best; lighthearted and easy to follow. If you enjoy books about the supernatural, and want something to relax with this is a book for you!
“No, you don't look stupid.
But you are making assumptions without all the facts, and that's not a sign of intelligence.”

ReplyDeleteI'm planning on reading the first one this month! I've heard so many great things about it!
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome to hear that all the books in the series are out already. Sounds like a great read - funny and dark, you say? This is so going on my to-read list! (:
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to read this book for forever because everyone raves about it. A personal quirk of mine a roomate find weird is more of a phobia than quirk, my fear of fuzz :)
ReplyDeleteThe books are Amazing read all of them love kylie an lucas also della miranda perry derek what can I say I'm addicted to shadow fall once you read them once you can't help going back and starting again an don't forget dellas book saved at sun rise
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds fantastic! I'm definitely putting it on my TBR. (I was the one who got the crazy roomies in college.lol)

ReplyDeleteWas just thinking of re-reading the first book :)
ReplyDeleteEssa série é uma das melhores que já li!
ReplyDeleteBecause I love all of her books and I want to have the whole series. I love them.
ReplyDeleteThey sound terrific and would love to give them a try. A roomie might not like all my silly shark items I collect :)
ReplyDeleteBesides the fact that I can't stand any and all weird noises, I'm decent. Oh and my book fetish. Besides that, I'd be a decent roommate!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this for my daughter. I have read and loved all the books in this series to date. I think she would enjoy them as well, she is a young new reader to this world and loves everything in books that this series has to offer and what better way then for her to have them in paperback :) When I was in college my roommate thought it was crazy when I displayed my Rhino Collection on my desk. I have over 1000 different Rhino Trinkets and Pieces. I swear she asked for a new room mate before her bedspread had time to settle on the bed. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love paranormal books. This one sounds very interesting. No quirks that I can think of. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteGreat review! Sounds like a good book.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good series something I could share with my oldest daughter Thanks for the chance to find a new author for me
ReplyDeleteI've read Christie's adult books and I'm hooked on those so I really need to try her YA books. My friend at work tells me they're awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love to read books of many different genres. I am a college student, so I cannot afford to buy many books. I also like to review books.
ReplyDeleteI luv to read. actually holding a book in my hands to read never gets old.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to read this series for awhile now, I love the cover and it would be great to have a 2 in 1 volume on my shelf. As for quirk that might annoy a roommate would be that I am very picky with my chair or spot on sofa I get annoyed when someone else sits there. (Except if it's a guest then I let it go for the time that there visiting:)
ReplyDeleteWOULD LIKE TO TRY THIS BOOK! THANKS FOR THE GIVEAWAY! SHELLEY S. calicolady60@hotmail.com

This sounds like something that would happen to me - I would do something wrong ONE time, get caught and sent to "boot camp." Ugh. Of course, I couldn't be lucky enough to be paranormal, but you catch my drift. And yes, I suppose I have "quirks" that would annoy roommates. I occasionally get stressed and pull my hair out. For those unused to seeing this, it might be a bit distressing. :) michelle_willms@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to read these books for quite a while. I'm a book freak.
ReplyDeleteRoommates find me annoying because I am a 'tidyier' not really a neat freak, but I want everything put away and straightened up. I also have a bad habit of walking away with pens and pencils. I also don't like my things touched or moved, in college my roommate moved out, always got a single room 8)

This books been on my TBR for what seems like forever.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty good with roommates. Had a bunch of em. I just hate doing other people's dishes, but don't like em to pile up. Also, I don't like when people eat my food ! Lol.
I'm a new follower, btw!
