I'm not your average hero. I actually wasn't your average anything. Just a poor guy working an after-school job at a South Beach shoe repair shop to help his mom make ends meet. But a little magic changed it all.
It all started with a curse. And a frognapping. And one hot-looking princess, who asked me to lead a rescue mission.
There wasn't a fairy godmother or any of that. And even though I fell in love along the way, what happened to me is unlike any fairy tale I've ever heard. Before I knew it, I was spying with a flock of enchanted swans, talking (yes, talking!) to a fox named Todd, and nearly trampled by giants in the Everglades.
Don't believe me? I didn't believe it either. But you'll see. Because I knew it all was true, the second I got cloaked.

Ok the description actually throws me a bit. BUT I really enjoyed Beastly So I want to give this one A shot :) Fairy tell retellings are awesome :) Do you have a favorite Fairy tale , and Re telling? Share in the comments!

Shatter Me

 Hardcover, 338 pages

Published November 15th 2011 by Harper/HarperCollins

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old-girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war - and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Shatter me did just that, it shattered me; it blew my mind!

Right from the get go I knew I was in for a whirlwind of emotions. Tahereh Mafi's writing is poetic and intense. Her beautiful descriptions mixed with the way her character Juliette crosses out her thoughts, both literally on paper and figuratively in her mind allowed me to really connect with this book!

 “I always wonder about raindrops.

I wonder how they're always falling down, tripping over their feet, breaking their legs and forgetting their parachutes as they tumble out of the sky toward an uncertain end. It's like someone is emptying their pockets over the earth and doesn't seem to care where the contents fall, doesn't seem to care that the raindrops burst when they hit the ground, that they shatter when they fall to the floor, that people curse the days the drops dare to tap on their doors.

I am a raindrop.”

The story is one filled with intrigue, action and romance ... expect a bumpy ride, not everything is black and white in the world Tahreh Mafi created.

Filled with much push and pull Shatter Me will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what's going to happen next. Will Adam- Juliette's new cellmate / childhood friend be her savior, or the beginning to her end? Will he shatter her heart more, or help piece it back together? Will Warner- The man who wants to use Juliette as a weapon ever leave her in peace? Or force her compliance at any cost? And as for Juliette herself... will she ever be able to truly touch someone again? Or will she constantly have to keep her distance?

Juliette: My heart ached for her, rooted for her, and cheered as she kicked Ass!   Butt !

Adam: Prepare to eat your heart out. I wanted to hug him, smack him, and kiss him all at the same time! A very dynamic character.

Warner: .... One of those characters I love to hate. and hate, and hate.

“Hope is hugging me, holding me in its arms, wiping away my tears and telling me that today and tomorrow and two days from now I will be just fine and I'm so delirious I actually dare to believe it.”

Rated: 5/5

Cannot wait for book #2 to see what madness Juliette gets herself into next!
