Last weeks Winner:
Its a Tie!
German Edition French Edition
Up This week:
Paranormalcy by Kristen White!
Weird as it is working for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, Evie’s always thought of herself as normal. Sure, her best friend is a mermaid, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she's falling for a shape-shifter, and she's the only person who can see through paranormals' glamours, but still. Normal.
Only now paranormals are dying, and Evie's dreams are filled with haunting voices and mysterious prophecies. She soon realizes that there may be a link between her abilities and the sudden rash of deaths. Not only that, but she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.
So much for normal.

English Edition
I like this edition.. I don't love it but it is eye catching. I like how she is standing Outside at night, in a sleeveless dress and she is like " ya, I'm not cold." But at the same time I don't think it portrays just how kick ass Evie is
Italian Edition
I adore this one, it's enchanting. Also, it feels more like there is a reason she is running around outside in a dress, she appears frantic like she is running from something. At the same time, It still doesn't portray her kick ass- ness.
German Edition
Umm... I don't get it? I mean ya, Evie is obsessed with Pink and all things girly, but the rose theme, and the new title.. doesn't seem to fit at all for me.
Portuguese Edition
I'm not really a fan of this one. The model looks more like a ballerina than a hunter of paranormals.
Russian Edtion
Sorry but again, I am not a fan. The girl is obviously not Evie, and the feeling I get from this cover is more.. Adult? Seductive? Just, not the feel I get from the book.
Chinese Edition
Finally one that hints at how she can kick ass! I would never have found this if I hadn't asked Kiersten White which was her favorite :) I love this one, though I think that the colors should have been more pink that blue. Still, it finally gets the idea across that the book is about a girl who kicks ass and takes names, not just looks great in a dress lol
I choose the Chinese Edition!
When I asked Kiersten what her favorite was she said :
Which edition do you vote for? Vote below! If you do not see the voting box please select " read more "
Hmm I remember being disappointed by the covers of Book of Shadows.
ReplyDeleteGuess my taste is too unique eh? :P
Anyway just saw the omnibus cover, I liked that too ^^
And this week it's Paranormalcy!
Haven't read this yet so I wouldn't know which is most suitable for the contents.
But the English version caught my eye the first time I saw it and I really liked it!
I agree that the German edition seems totally out of place.
Like a wrong cover for the book.
For me it'll be a close fight between the English version and the Portuguese version (although yeah, think the model's a ballerina?).
I chose the English one! :D
I haven't read the book, so I'm going totally off general cover-awesomeness (which is how I pick books anyway!), and the Italian one is definitely my favourite! I see your point about the Chinese one, but it just doesn't do anything for me. I think it's the fact that the emphasis is on the knife instead of the face.
ReplyDelete@Midnight and @lianneLavoi - we judge books by their covers, it's a given even if sometimes we are wrong lol it's one of the reasons I think these different covers are so interesting! it makes me wonder if I would really pick up the book if say the cover of the English version was the Russian edition :S. Now.. When/ If you read this book. maybe you will picture a cover like I do. Evie, Standing in kick ass clothes ( aka sensible but cool haha ) with Tasey hooked in her belt loop. "tasey" is what she named her pink rhinestone studded taser. Makes me laugh every time :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'm ok with the English cover, I think the girl looks badass enough to be Evie, and her dress is pink... though I would have loved for her to be powerfully brandishing Tasey! I'm going to have to vote for the Chinese one though, because it shows her looking in the mirror, trying to see what's visible behind her eyes, kinda a main theme of the book... also the pink knife :) But darn it I want to see Tasey! Who wouldn't want a rhinestone encrusted taser? (the pink is debatable)
ReplyDeleteI'm late! Sorry, it's been a CRAZY week. My absolute favorite is the Italian edition cover. I love it so much! I also like the German edition cover. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso: I love that you asked Kiersten which was her favorite. So awesome!
@Jazu, I didn't even think about the fact that it looks like she is looking in a mirror! nice observation ;) BTW *( so glad you liked the book :) )
ReplyDelete@Penelope- always the last one to the party ;) JK! the German edition seems to me like something that evie would paint on her wall! in a good way of course :) And ya, I have been asking the authors the last.. 3 times I think? I like knowing what they love!
