When Abbey's best friend, Kristen, vanishes at the bridge near Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, everyone else is all too quick to accept that Kristen is dead and rumors fly that her death was no accident. Abbey goes through the motions of mourning her best friend, but privately, she refuses to believe that Kristen is really gone. It only makes things worse that everyone now treats Abbey like either a freak show or a charity case. Thank goodness for Caspian, the gorgeous and mysterious boy who shows up out of nowhere at Kristen's funeral, and keeps reappearing in Abbey's life. Caspian clearly has secrets of his own, but he's the only person who makes Abbey feel normal again...but also special.
Just when Abbey starts to feel that she might survive all this, she learns a secret that makes her question everything she thought she knew about her best friend. How could Kristen have kept silent about so much? And could this secret have led to her death? As Abbey struggles to understand Kristen's betrayal, she uncovers a frightening truth that nearly unravels her -- one that will challenge her emerging love for Caspian, as well as her own sanity.
This Series is a haunting romance that I have not been able to put down. Abby is a strong but emotional teenager who is going into her junior year without her best friend who died in a tragic accident under the Sleepy Hollow Bridge. Abby is trying to cope when she meets Caspian, a gorgeous and mysterious boy who she falls for immediately. Trekking through her everyday life while hiding a new romance and dealing with the death of her best friend leaves Abby in a whirlwind of emotions that you are bound to connect with.
This is not your typical YA paranormal romance, for starters you don't catch on to the paranormal aspect until the last few chapters ( and that's all I will say about that ;) ) Abby lives in the town of Sleepy Hollow, and the legend plays a big part in the story line. The Author Jessica Verday also puts excerpts from the legend in at the beginning of each chapter, every time I read one I wonder more and more why I haven't read that classic * it is now on my hold list at the library!* As this is a trilogy I don't want to give away too much, believe me just the first in the series will hook you.
Rating: 4/5
The Hollow trilogy is a beautifully written tale with a wonderful blend of Romance, Tragedy, and the paranormal.
Loved this book. Makes me want to read the original legend again. The imagery was beautiful. The story interesting and moved pretty quickly. And the ending leaves questions so I want the next book and some answers. Definitely worth a try. Good recommendation!!!
