The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
In Mary's world there
are simple truths. The Sisterhood always knows best. The Guardians will
protect and serve. The Unconsecrated will never relent. And you must
always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that
protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth. But, slowly,
Mary’s truths are failing her. She’s learning things she never wanted to
know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their
power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. When the
fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, she must choose
between her village and her future—between the one she loves and the one
who loves her. And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands
and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded in so much
death?

English Hardcover
German Edition French Edition Czech Edition
Spanish Edition Polish Edition
My Thoughts:
Surprisingly I liked quite a few of these!
Though the English hardcover not really draw me in at first, I cannot deny that it does work with the feel of the book, however out of the English editions #1 is wonderful! I really feel like she is traveling though the woods frightened. The other English paperbacks...meh.
The German Cover really draws me in with the colors,if the girl were not in a fancy dress this would be one of my favorites,it just throws me off.
The French Cover also really has the feel of the book. The wire fence, and the way the looks terrified, but curious.
The Czech and the Spanish Covers really don't work for me. The pretty girls in fancy dresses or covered with flowers...no..
Now the Polish is by far my favorite ! The Colors are awesome and really drew me in. Then we have the forest on one side and the water on the other, connects back to parts in the book. And the girl is great. You can see the worried look on her face, the dirt on her hands, and the hint of infection in her veins to make you wonder. Seriously, if I could read polish, I would buy this edition!
What do you think of the covers?! Share in the comments below, and if you have read the book I would love to see your feedback in my review!
Ooh, I haven't seen that Polish edition yet. I like it, but I'm really liking the German edition and the black UK edition more. I haven't read the book yet though, so I might change my mind afterward. :)
ReplyDeleteFrench one. The fence did it for me. And the way she looks all apprehensive. I did like the Polish one but something about it didn't click for me exactly...
ReplyDeleteI love the English Paperback #1!!! I love the way the branches reach out like teeth or bony fingers over her face, very well done. I also like the German and French covers. They give it that creepy forest feel that I always get in the dark forest. I would pick this book purely by it's cover.
ReplyDelete@Penelope Ya the Polish, German and English pb #1 are my faves:) if you ever read the book come back andshare your thoughts!
ReplyDelete@JAzu ya the fence was a big part of the story, I liked that they pulled it into the cover!
@ Ms. McKellips judging books by their cover is something everyone does haha. even if they don't all admit it, and yes, those covers hold my attention so well!
Definitely English Paperback #3!
ReplyDelete@capillya - It's definately striking ! and alone as a cover I like it. However I personally couldn't make the connection to the book :s But we have have different things that grab our attention which is what is so great about having different covers available !
ReplyDeleteI have the English paperback #2 (though I'm pondering giving it to the library to get it out of my house - really didn't like the book!). I like the simplicity of this cover, though; you're not bombarded by images. I really like the French one too. It captures the feel of the story perfectly. The other ones just don't really work for me.
