Foreign Cover Friday

Foreign Cover Friday is a weekly meme hosted by The Reading Fever, where foreign covers of the books we know and love are spotlighted and discussed. To join, either pick your favorite foreign cover, or pick many foreign covers, and start discussing!

( Not all of my post feature multiple foreign covers, however I still think it's fun to discuss the different covers given to books when reprinting! So I think it still fits the theme )

Up This Week:
Shade by Jeri Smith Ready

Love ties them together. Death can't tear them apart.
Best. Birthday. Ever. At least, it was supposed to be. With Logan's band playing a critical gig and Aura's plans for an intimate after-party, Aura knows it will be the most memorable night of her boyfriend's life. She never thought it would be his last.
Logan's sudden death leaves Aura devastated. He's gone.
Well, sort of.
Like everyone born after the Shift, Aura can see and hear ghosts. This mysterious ability has always been annoying, and Aura had wanted nothing more than to figure out why the Shift happened so she can undo it. But not with Logan's violet-hued spirit still hanging around. Because dead Logan is almost as real as ever. "Almost."
It doesn't help that Aura's new friend Zachary is so understanding--and so very alive. His support means more to Aura than she cares to admit.
As Aura's relationships with the dead and the living grow ever complicated, so do her feelings for Logan and Zachary. Each holds a piece of Aura's heart...and clues to the secret of the Shift.

English Hardcover #1                          English Hardcover #2

I don't think my love for the Hardback #1 is wavering, I loves the mysterious air that it gives up, creepy yet elegant. The Hardcover #2, While showing the romance that is in the book.. just doesn't do it for me, the purple is too light, and the girl.. just doesn't fit. That's only my opinion of course.

                     English Paperback #1                         English Paperback # 2

Even though its just a shift in the original image to show off more of the girl, I still prefer the hardcover. Picturing Aura wearing the sparkly top is throwing me >.< However I do enjoy the Paperback #2. Not quite as much as the original hardcover but it still gives off that interesting vibe that I like.

                        Polish Hardcover

Goodness, I don't know what they were thinking. I feel like I'm looking at like.. a historical Harlequin romance or something :s Just doesn't work for me.

  1. I haven't read this book and I don't think I've even actually even seen it down here in this slightly rejected by the publishing world country we call Australia, but I think my favourite and the one I'd most likely pick up would English Paperback #1 or the hardcover version though just the arm and the ribbon seems too little to draw my attention. I might have to see if I can find it locally now as your post has intrigued me. Is it good?

    1. I may be a weirdo loving the hardcover with just the arm showing >.< I love simplicity. If you can find it somehow you should seriously give it a chance! I loved it! The romance in it is wonderful but its also a strong paranormal ! Here is my review : http://thepassionatebookworm.blogspot.com/2012/02/illuminate-review-giveaway.html

  3. I like hardcover 1 and paperback 2. I definitely liked how the cover design made sure to integrate the violet and the red on the hardcover, plus the arm leaves a feeling of fleetingness... I guess that one's my fave even though paperback 2 is pretty, since the paperback has more blue than violet. And the Polish one is all wrong because of the red dress! She's conflicted about Logan; why would she wear that??

  4. I haven't read this book yet or gotten the chance to pick it up but if I were to choose which cover to get it'd be the English Hardcover #1 with just the arm. LOL. I have no clue why I like it, I just do. It's simple and it has this air of mystery that makes you go, "Hey, this looks interesting!"
