Second Hand Saturday

Second Hand Saturday

A weekly meme hosted by The Reading Teen
MY second hand saturday giveaways are NOT weekly, But I will try to do one often in order to clear my shelves of books that deserve better homes.

Many of my second hand books are ARCs. Due to the nature of ARCs and the fact that they have been read more than once keep in mind they are not in pristine condition, some have creases on the covers, some have worn out edges. However no true damage is done to the reading material.
Up for grabs:

( clicking on each link beside image will take you to goodreads page )

( Has small black marks on cover, right bottom corner slightly bent. light wearing on edges.)

( Has crease down middle of cover. Right bottom corner bent. Light wearing and discoloring on edges.)

ARC of The Poison Diaries by MaryRose Wood

  4. I would love Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly. I don't care about used books. frankly, a good half of the books I won are second-hand. If they weren't I either will be broke or book-less. Thanks for doing this. :)

    2. We don't have many here either. We have these "specialty" book stores that sell limited edition books, which are obviously not cheap.

They need to have a Book bank for us "book deprived people". :P

  5. I'd love to read Alice I have Been by Melanie Benjamin. I'm always interested in re-telling of stories I know very well (just read The Child Thief by Brom, a re-telling of Peter Pan). I don't know why but I think I just like to see a story from different point of views.

I like second hand books a lot. I love going to flea markets and buy some, because I think they seem to have a story of their own. Not only the story inside, but also the story of who bought them and yeah... I don't know. I just like that even though I have to admit I almost never sell books I read myself.

I'm trying to be good and giveaway books that I know I won't read again, or that I got in Hardcover :) it's so hard!! But it's nice knowing they go into good hands.

  6. I would love the copy of Alice I have Been by Melanie Benjamin!! It sounds great!!
My feeling on second hand books is that if someone else wants them and the are going to go to good use awesome! I pick up a used book every now and again even though I rarely give my books away :S

  7. The Replacement, Alice I Have Been, and Revolution all look like really interesting books and I have been wanting to read them for a while.

While it is nice and all to buy and/or receive a nice new book, I also love secondhand books. They are often cheaper, and sharing a book is special - it can create a bond, spark discussions, etc. I love it when I can tell a book has been loved!

I love the idea of Secondhand Saturdays!

    1. It does create a bond! Unless its a loan, and they try not go give it back... then things can get ugly ;) haha

  8. Since i have read and bought copies of most of the others (second hand of course) I would love Jekyl loves Hyde! it looks great! I love second hand copies, because they are cheaper, and all I care about is the content of the book. I like new books too of course, but I don't mind second hands! That is what I buy mostly off Amazon for myself!

  9. I'm interested in The Poison Diaries :)

I have gotten secondhand ARCs before and they're in pretty good condition so I don't mind. But I did get an ARC that was pretty beat up (ripped and bent, etc) and I'm so OCD I have to keep my books looking like brand new, but surprisingly I didn't mind. It gave the book character. lol. It was well loved <3 Besides, I'm super broke. I just want to read the book and I'm totally good with that. I think if I was going to buy a book like from B&N and Amazon, it has to be super pristine. lol :)

    1. Only a couple of the ones I'm giving away really look slightly beat up,but that's because they have been lent out more than once! I am usually super careful with my books :)

  10. I'm interested Revolution, I saw this in the store the other day and it looks really good.

I don't mind secondhand books since I frequent used bookstores alot, I do try to make sure they stay as nice as possible though. When it comes to ARCs I don't mind either way though, since it's an advanced copy and I'm more than willing to buy the finished product if I like it enough.

  11. I really want The Replacement! ;D

As for second hand books, I don't really mind owning them. Hey, they're still books, and what's better? They're cheaper books! So its a win win for me. :)

  12. Firelight.
I have absolutely no problem with second hand books. I am a huge fan of the library after all. Besides if a book just sits on the shelf and never gets read that just seems lonely. It was created to be read and entertain. It wants to fulfill its purpose.

  15. I would want Jekel Loves Hyde - Beth Fantaskey is such an awesome author! If not, then Firelight (:

I LOVE secondhand books! Because they're sorta old, they already have this nice-book-smell and I don't have to fret over accidentally denting a part of the cover or something. Books are such remarkable things! I could stay in a secondhand bookstore all day if I were alllowed to! Thanks for this giveaway (:

  23. I think I'm the most interested in Firelight. I've heard some great things about it. Second hand books are great because they save paper because there is not as much of a demand for printing new books.
